Finding a vest/jacket with all of the patches sewed on already will be nearly impossible so you’ll probably be better off just finding the jacket and learning how to sew the patches on (like me). I know this will be a lot to read, but this is what I did basically:

I’m a thrasher so I have a patch-covered Levi’s denim vest. If you want denim, then I got you covered. GET LEVI’S DENIM JACKETS. They may be pricey (between about $70 – $120), but it’s worth every penny. They don’t sell denim vests these days (that I have seen) so if you want to, get the sleeves cut off at any dry cleaners or do it yourself (if this suits your style). There are many Levi’s retail outlets all over America so go to their main website to find locations near you. I’ll provide the links in the sources. If you look at the selection of jackets online and don’t like what you see, I still suggest you go to the store anyways because they might be carrying a jacket you might like that isn’t on their website.

As far as patches go, I can’t really give you any specific store to go to because I don’t know where you live. You can go to local independent record stores. They tend to sell patches and also buttons. If you happen to live near Hollywood or LA, there are plenty of rock clothing shops that sell patches and buttons on Hollywood blvd. I bought patches and buttons at a store called Hot Rock on Hollywood blvd. This is if you don’t have patches already. Also, you can go on Amazon and look for specific patches. If you do that, I suggest you browse from the seller Rockabilia because they are an official business and buying from them off of Amazon is 100% safe. They even send you a nice free catalog of stuff they sell when you make a purchase. The only thing I don’t like about them is that their shipping fee and all that is pretty pricey (cost me $6 for one $6 jumbo patch). Get an Amazon gift card at Walgreens if you don’t feel safe providing your credit/debit card on Amazon.

      Extra stuff you might like:
Biker leather jackets are pretty metal if you ask me so if you like it, consider getting one. You can find these jackets at motorcycle shops, independent music stores, and even the mall (occasionally, but they tend to be overpriced though). Google image search “biker jacket” for the different styles. I got mine at that Hot Rock store in Hollywood as I mentioned earlier. Also, try searching for local leather stores. They most likely will carry what you want. These jackets are $100 or more so yeah, it’s very expensive .

Yeah, sorry for writing so much, it’s only to help you get the style you want. I know that “Metal” has no specific dress code, but without a doubt, there is an affiliation of look to represent the music (the music being more important of course) and also the style is pretty damn cool lol. Understand that this is costly so do what you wish. Hope I helped ?

Jean Jackets: yes, just look at any clothing store website
Vests: depends on what type you’re talking about, and how you wear them. Here is an example of how you can wear both.

Metalheads:patching A Jacket/vest? For those of you familiar with creating “battlejackets”,i want to create one i’ve bough patches and everything but i’m confused if i should get a jacket or a vest?

Another question,i know people who overpatch their jackets and it just looks sloppy and looks like someone’s trying too hard. How many patches is too much?
Trolls,go away serious answers only please.
For you maybe :),but to me i don’t dig the look where their is patches overlapping each other or you don’t actually see uncovered denim.

http://tshirtslayer.com/files-tshirt/imagecache/shirtview/DSC02557.JPG is an example of what i don’t like
I am 22 have been listening to metal since i was 15 currently taking telecom in university.I am definitely going to do the bleaching i looked at some images and it looks pretty cool.

I like punk but i used to be a metalhead and ive been patching since i was 8.
      If you wanna be creative.
Get a BLACK denim jacket. Make it a cut off. Stencil a simple band sign WITH BLEACH on the back (i recommend Municipal Waste’s) then patch and stud the front of the jacket. No one ever uses black denim.
EDIT* you can’t have enough patches. >.>
      .
2ND EDIT* to be fair, he has patched that really well, but you don’t need to do that, it’s up to you how many patches are too many. Id definately bleach it though, i have that guys Municipal patch (top left) on my skinnies lol. What age are you?
Sweet, i’m 16 haha. I don’t listen to much metal anymore but it’s better than some music out there.

Jackets And Vests?? Ok I’ll admit. I don’t exactly own any cute jackets or vests but I really want some. I’m older now and they look sophisticated and I’m not sure where the best place to get them is. I don’t want something too expensive, but nothing tacky either. I want something worth investing in spending and that will last. I’m all about classics. Something fun though not something I will wear and people will think I’m dressed up or something.
I’m 19 years old by the way.

I am not sure about the answer but a fleece lined jacket is a coat that usually has a windproof nylon exterior to keep you dry during rainy weather. A fleece lined jacket is a cozy way to keep warm, but still have a waterproof exterior to your jacket that is created from a different material. You can find fleece lined jackets in a variety of colors and styles. Jackets are made to suit women, men, and children; while there are some that are suited for unisex. You can get fleece lined jackets for skiing, snowboarding, jogging, or even a twill sports jacket with a fleece interior. There are no limits to what styles you can find. Just about any color is available and when it comes to children, there are even cute little prints. If you are looking for a heavy duty fleece lined jacket, look into a coat that has a canvas exterior. These are rather heavy in weight, but they are perfect for cold winter days when you will be outdoors for a few hours. If you are looking for something more lightweight, then a polyester exterior coat would be perfect. These are light enough to wear on a brisk day, but warm enough to bear the winter cold.

You can find fleece lined jackets anywhere from $16.00 to over $200.00. Factors like style, exterior materials, size, etc., will determine the overall cost of your jacket. Always be sure the material is not too heavy for every day wear. If you purchase a coat that you can only wear when it is twenty degrees outside, you may be a little upset when you end up having a warmer winter. You should always be sure that you have a good fit when it comes to coats for both adults and children alike. A good fitting coat can make the difference between catching a cold this winter, or staying war and snuggly.

Luckily, fleece lined jackets are rather easy to find. You can find them both online and in-store. It is usually best to try and purchase your jacket in-store if you can. You will never know just how a jacket fits you, unless you try it on. When you are shopping online you can easily find a better price, but you may be disappointed when that jacket arrives and it does not fit your body type. Visit retailers such as Kohl's, Target, Wal-Mart, JC Penny and Sears to try on a few winter coats this year.

What To Wear With Army Jacket Vest? So fall is here and it’s a little more on the chilly side where i live. Recently I bought an army vest at charlotte russe. What could i wear with it? Preferably shirt ideas. Would long sleeves look weird with it? Thanks.

Long sleeves would look fine. personal preference, just don’t wear it with a super loose/wide opening long sleeves. I think a military vest can be styled exactly how you would if it was a jacket. It is very versatile. Keep with a good color scheme and you’ll be fine.

What Is A Good Choice For A WARM Winter Jacket? I’m looking up nike snowboarding jackets and northface coats? what is the best option for warmth and are all snowboarding jackets warm

    View Comment

No, not all snowboarding jackets are warm. Some are just shells that require you to buy your own insulating layers. That may sound silly but it helps people control the temperature inside their jackets.

For example, this snowboarding jacket made by The North Face has no insulation whatsoever. http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gear/mens-jackets-vests/men-39-s-enzo-jacket.html?from=subCat&variationId=VC0 It’s a shell, but it’s also super waterproof and includes superb breathability. It’s the jacket Xavier de Le Rue uses around the world, and he’s definitely in colder places then you. It likewise includes built in features like the Recco avalanche reflector. The jacket will be cold if you don’t provide the proper insulation on those freezing winter days. I used this jacket as an example to show that price doesn’t equal warmth when it comes to jackets. Usually, the more you spend the more waterproof/breathable your jacket will be. If you bought that jacket and were expecting something super warm you’d be super disappointed.

A big key to staying warm is staying dry on the inside and out. a jacket with great waterproofing like gor-tex will keep water out. But keeping water out is easy. The hard part comes with breathability. Breathability is the ability of a jacket to expel moisture (sweat) from the inside of the jacket to the outside. So, a good jacket will have both a high waterproof rating and a high breathability rating. All jackets from well known companies will show these ratings. You will have to do a bit of translating with The North Face, as they use a slightly different system. Most companies you see will use the same rating system as Nike. Here for example is a Nike jacket (I really hate their line this year, so ugly lol) http://www.backcountry.com/nike-snowboarding-kampai-jacket-mens If you scroll down you’ll see a waterproof rating of 10k and a breathability rating of 10k, the higher the better. That’s decent, it’s about the lowest i’ll go when it comes to my winter outerwear. You also need to read the technical details to see if it has insulation. If the details don’t mention insulation then the jacket is probably a shell (lining is not the same as insulation). The Nike jacket I linked is a shell, you can tell this by the mention of shell and no mention of any insulation.

Here is another example, http://www.backcountry.com/nike-snowboarding-bellevue-se-jacket-mens this Nike jacket is insulated, as mentioned in the technical details, but the insulation is only a removable vest interior. There is no insulation on the arms, only on the torso. That jacket looks overpriced in my opinion.

All I’m saying is you need to read the specifications. If the jacket doesn’t mention insulation then it doesn’t have insulation. It will also mention where the insulation is located in the jacket. Be cautious, a lot of people buy jackets because they think price equals warmth. Well, that’s not inherently true. Oh, and feel free to browse backcoutry.com, just about every company on there is well respected in terms of outerwear.

I should also mention that the clothing you wear under your jacket is just as important as the jacket itself. If you spend big bucks on a nice jacket don’t go around wearing cotton sweatpants and a cheap sweater, it’s counterproductive. Cotton absorbs almost twice its weight in moisture. So, if you begin sweating that cotton will quickly absorb all that moisture leaving you cold and wet once you stop moving. Wear water-wicking materials under your jacket and against your skin. Things like the synthetic Under Aromour material and wool. Those fabrics will wick moisture away from your skin leaving you much dryer by days end.
