Ibis Ripley 29 SLX Bike
The Ibis Ripley 29 is a super lightweight, nimble, and fun trail bike. The Ripley has all of the benefits of a 29″er with the snappy feel and light weight of a 26″ bike. The Ripley 29 features 120mm of rear wheel travel, using dual eccentric DW-Link suspension design. The Ripley 29 has two small eccentrics, hidden inside the seat tube, which act as the suspension linkages. DW- Link is a four- bar suspension system uses anti- squat to eliminate suspension bob, which results in a highly efficient bicycle. Pedal feedback is also minimized due to the suspension design. DW- Link has superior small bump compliance, predictable travel through the range without wallowing or hash bottoming out. This system has fewer parts than many other suspension designs. Albert Einstein said it best “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” You may have noticed that the Ibis Ripley 29 is quite the looker. Ibis put a lot of research and development into the frame design. Not only is the Ripley aesthetically pleasing, it’s functional. The tapered head tube creates a stiff front end for superior handling. Meanwhile, the 142mm rear axle stiffens the back end up, for excellent follow through. The BB92/ Press GXP style integrated bottom bracket produces excellent power transfer. Internal cable routing keeps contaminants off the cables, and lets the Ripley 29 show off its sleek figure. When Ibis set out to create the Ripley 29, they took a look at many other 29ers on the market and found that the geometry was all across the board. Ibis wanted to create a nimble 29er with a similar feel to their current bicycle lineup. During the development process, Ibis experimented with frames with different head tube angles and forks with different rakes. However, all the testers unanimously landed on one geometry design. Due to the eccentrics, Ibis was able to tighten up the rear end, making it shorter than a lot of comparable bikes. Those that have ridden the Ibis Ripley 29 describe it as stiff, snappy, nimble, light and plush. The Ibis Ripley 29 SLX build features a high grade component build. Fox Factory level suspension components cushion large drops, and have superior small bump compliance. Fox’s CTD (Climb, Trail, and Descend) technology allows you to quickly change fork settings throughout the ride for a customized feel. The FIT cartridge ensures that the oil and air do not mix for even and reliable suspension, no matter the duration of your ride. Both the fork and the rear suspension are Kashima coated for less stiction. Stan’s ZTR Arch EX rims have NoTubes technology. Shimano Deore brakes modulate speeds to keep your nerves at bay. High end Shimano drivetrain components can be found littered about. Shimano SLX front and rear derailleurs are controlled by Shimano Deore SL- M610 shifters. The Shimano SLX FC-M670 cranks paired with the 10 speed Shimano SLX rear derailleur offer 30 gears, to provide you the right ratio for the terrain you ride. Ibis branded cockpit components including the handlebar, stem, seat post, and saddle add a dimension of affordability to the bicycle. The Ibis Ripley 29 SLX bicycle will provide you seasons of fun. The Ripley 29 changes the perception of the 29er. No longer will you feel like you’re cruising in a Cadillac, the Ripley 29 handles like an exotic sports car.
