Get Your Ride On!
School Supply Shopping? Can anybody give me a list or some things that I will definitely need for back to school (just supplies, not clothes). I’m trying to be a lot more organized this year if that helps.
I’m going into 10th grade. I have a list but they only have like five things on there like basic stuff like paper, binders, etc.
To start out, you need to shop at the right place. Target is great for supplies, as well as OfficeMax. I would not suggest Wal Mart, as it has low-quality items and bad company leaders. You also need to have the basic supplies.
Pink Pearl Erasers, Classic folders in different shades, Pencils (Mechanical or Original) Glue (Stick or Liquid) Colored Pencils (12 pack) Highlighters, Sharpies, Pencil Pouch, Classic notebooks in different shades, Scissors, Calculator, Multiple Binders, and if your school doesn’t supply one, a lock.
To be more organized, I suggest color-cordinating your classes. (Blue for Math,Green for Science,Red for SS, etc)
Also install shelves into your locker, and put you folders and notebooks in order of your classes that day. If your school doesn’t supply an assignment notebook, buy one! Before I got my blackberry, I couldn’t live without the notebook. I wrote EVERYTHING in it. (What we did that day in the class, our homework, etc) I am seventeen, and still use some of those techniques today in high school.
When Should I Go School Supply Shopping? This is really early since we just got out on the 31st but i’m going to be in another country for the rest of june and then i’m leaving again at the beginning of august for 2 weeks (aug 1st-15th.) Our school starts back on August 19th. I’m also going to have to buy uniforms which i know more than likely i’ll have to do that as soon as they come in because they sell extremely fast! I’m expecting they will come in the first few weeks of july. I prefer to do school supply shopping fairly early too, but i don’t think i’ll need much (im a junior). When should be the best time to get everything? And if anyone has any advice on what school stuff i will need that will be great too! Thanks!
By the way, we do not get a supply list at all, so we mostly just get the basics, so any ideas on what i may need or what you needed would be EXTREMELY appreciated!. They give us a list at open house or the first day but i wont be at open house and usually all the good stuff is gone by the first day :/
I would get the uniforms as soon as they are available.
For school supplies, my teachers usually give me a list of what they want during the first week of school, but I am sure many high school send out a list before school starts, so get the supplies as soon as you can- the beginning of August will have the most sales and school supplies will be in most stores.
A list of general school supplies:
One binder per class. 1 inch is usually the standard requirement, but 1 and a half inch is also common.
1 notebook per class. I usually buy 4 more than the number of classes I have(For example, if I have 8 classes, I get 12 notebooks), just in case I fill up a notebook.
Pens(blue, black, red)
Pencils(I prefer 0.5 mechanical pencils.) Papermate is my favorite company.
Extra lead and erasers for mechanical pencils and
If you need a new backpack, get one too.
Tab Dividers are EXTREMELY useful to stay organized.
A pencil case, if you don’t already have one.
If your school usually wants you to get Expo markers, then get Expo markers, as well.
A lot of time, I like to write my notes in color, so I get Pilot G2 pens. They come in a variety of colors.
Hope this helped!Good Luck!
7th Grade School Supply Shopping List? Ok, I’m gonna be in 7th grade and school starts on the 27th ? well can anyone give me a shopping list for the supplies I might need? thanks it really helps ?
– No. 2 pencils
– Mechanical pencils
– Colored pencils
– Pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings)
– A large pink eraser
– Ballpoint pens (Get a few red ink ones too, because some teachers have students do peer editing.)
– Spiral-bound or composition notebooks
– Loose-leaf notebook paper (Teachers can be picky about paper. Some ask that students use the college-ruled variety.)
– A ruler with English and metric measurements
– Several three-ring binders (Some teachers require that a binder be used exclusively for their class.)
– A three-hole punch (a regular one or one that fits in a three-ring binder)
– A pencil case that fits in a binder
– Binder dividers (The kinds with pockets are good for loose papers.)
– Pocket folders
– Folders that fit in binders
– A calendar for scheduling assignments
– A sturdy, supportive backpack (Some schools do not permit rolling backpacks because of space considerations, so check with your school before considering this option.)
– Two combination locks (If the school lockers do not have built-in locks, you might need one for the hallway and one for the gym.)
– Flash Drive to save any important documents
– Index cards, ruled and unruled (These are great for making flash cards.)
– A calculator (Check with the math teacher first before investing in an expensive one. Graphing calculators, for example, are required in many high school math classes. Teachers advise parents not to buy a calculator with more functions than students will use.)
*****WHAT TO BRING ON THE FIRST DAY****
Folder – for all the syllabuses, rules, guidelines, & supply lists that your teacher passes out
Pencil – Just in case your asked to do a small activity that involves writing
Paper – Again for the small activity
Locker items – If your locker was already given out to you then it’s best to bring your lock & throughout the week you can bring your locker items.
Binder – Just a 1″
Backpack – To carry everything and sometimes teachers give out textbooks
Money – For lunch of something
–And any girl/boy accessories that you may need. (ipod, phones, makeup, brushes, etc.)
Best Place To Shop For Remodeling Supplies? We are thinking of doing some remodeling to our homes. Where’s the best place to shop for supplies — both in terms of price and customer service?
I'm going to give you my experiences with Lowe's, HomeDepot, and Mendard's.
They have an awesome web site! You are able to enter your zip code so that you are given the stores near you. You can shop within any category, each contains tips on the projects you are doing and item prices.
I'm giving you an example for wallpaper. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pg&p=HomeDecor/WallpaperCenter.html
If you don't want to search through all of the styles, it breaks it down by these categories:
By Color Family, Design Type, Style, Adhesive type and by Wallpaper Roll Square Foot.
It even has a wallpaper calculator. Also a project planner, including "how-to's" on making over a room.
You are able to order online/pay and then just pickup at the store you choose. Sure makes it a lot easier than sitting "there" for hours going thru books!!! I recommend price comparison. Their costs tend to be higher than Menard's (but Menard's selection doesn't compare!!). I have always been treated well there, wasn't a problem finding an informative department associate!! Their web site is VERY helpful and cuts down on time at the store . . . and we all know that our time spent is money wasted! Their online store also gives you the weekly ads. They are my #1 choice.
Here again, you can find buying guides, weekly ads, local store, etc.. It is a very helpful web site just as Lowe's. In my shopping experiences there: It was difficult to find a department associate to assist me and their prices were the HIGHEST.
Their web site is NO WHERE as informative as Lowe's and Home Depot. It gives you their weekly ad's and the 1st web site addy is where you find your local store. You are unable to shop online at their web site, including price comparison (except for items in their weekly ads). I have found them to be the LOWEST PRICED! Store employees are polite and knowledgeable. Their lumber yard allows you to pick out your lumber. Which is such a plus!!! It's very frustrating to end up with a 2×4 that should be used for a boat!
So overall, it really depends on your budget and selection wanted. I think Mendard's selection is less than Lowe's and Home Depot's. BUT, THEIR PRICES ARE THE BEST!
Best of Luck in remodeling your home! I find it so fulfilling to see the remodeling "I" have made in my home. I hope you do also!!!
