What Can I Do Outside For Fun? Im not a fatass.. its just that u go to school in anothe rtown so i don’t really know anybody and I don’et go outside that often. I was wondering what i could do outside to entertain me
Is Camping A Sport? What Kind Of Camping Sports Are Available? Yahoo sections camping as a sport. What kind of camping sports are there? I like camping and would possibly be interested in camping sports
But yahoo wouldnt list it if it wasnt a sport?
Camping is an outdoor recreation. Sport activities often fall within camping activities.
“Outdoor recreation or outdoor activity is leisure pursuits engaged in the outdoors, often in natural or semi-natural settings out of town. Examples include adventure racing, backpacking, cycling, camping, canoeing, canyoning, caving, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, kayaking, mountaineering, photography, adventure park, rock climbing, running, sailing, skiing, and surfing. Outdoor recreation may also refer to a team sport game or practice held in an outdoor setting.”
“Some outdoor goal-directed activities are: backpacking, canoeing, canyoning, caving, climbing, hiking, hill walking, hunting, kayaking, and rafting. Arguably broader groupings of goal-directed outdoor activities would include water sports, snow sports, and horseback riding. Goal-directed outdoor activities are predominately physical, though they may also be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually rewarding. The outdoors as a physical or social setting may meet the needs of physical health, self-sufficiency, risk-taking, the building of social ties (including teambuilding), and the needs of achievement (such as practicing, enhancing and challenging skills, testing stamina and endurance, and seeking adventure or excitement). The outdoors can be an environment in which people ‘show what they can do’.”
How Do I Plan An Amazing Race Themed Birthday? I have a friend turning 50 who is a HUGE fan of Amazing Race. We want to rent a limo and do a pub crawl, but need ideas of what to have her do in the bars (tasteful!) in order to receive her next clue!
We did the same thing last year but it was a vacation. 7 of us total 3 adults and 4 kids ranging from 3-14. It was really for the kids but we had 4 destinations. On christmas day (6 months before trip) we gave out “inviations to the Amazing Family Adventure” and their 1st Clue. They guessed the clue (it was California). But they didn’t know where they were going in CA or what they would be doing and they had no idea what they would be doing or going for the rest of the trip! For each activity and destination we gave them a clue. Utimately we when to LA (Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica) then drove to Vegas, caught a flight to Tampa Florida and then drove to Orlando before heading home. The kids had a ball. Before we left we had gym bags (luggage) each in different colors (so they would immediately know that it was theirs) with there names on them. This was like their backpack. Their bags were packed with their clothes and other things they would need on the trip – sunglasses, gum, bathing suit, etc. All of their stuff was in the color theme of their bag and they even had a $ store pencil case to hold there clues.
The amazing race is really like a scavenger hunt with lots of travel involved. Plan out your route. Maybe go to the places you want to take her on her birthday and have the bartender, waiter or hostess give her her next clue at each location. We gave the clues to one of our hotel front desk clerks early one morning. The kids had to go to the lobby and see the clerk to get there next clue. Maybe have her drink a few shots at this bar. Dance at another etc. Find something at another palace. Try this exotic dish at another. Depends on how wild you want to get. And maybe get a nice hotel room or suite for the end of the night (pitstop for the leg of the race).
What Kind Of Hiking/backpacking Races Exist?(if Any)? I don’t want the typical run. I am looking for a race that takes you through the wilderness where true strategy comes into play. For example, you might have to decide when to set up camp for the night or press forward to make better time. Does such a race exist? If so, can I do it solo or do you need to have a team? Am a required to take a safety course or other training to participate? Thank you!! ( I have seen adventure racing but I am more interested in just hiking)
Go into the army infantry and when you go for your expert infantryman’s badge there is a 12 mile march. To pass the task, you’ll need to run in full combat gear with a 45lb rucksack and rifle. Though it’s not a race against your fellows per say, it turns into one around 9 miles in.
Any Ideas For A Cheap And Effective Marketing Campaign For A Backpack? I need some cool ideas for a marketing campaign. I’m starting my own business making/designing sports clothing and gear and we’re getting ready to launch our first product this Xmas: A backpack for extreme sports (ie. trail running, adventure racing). We have a tight budget and need to come up with something very soon that will help us Launch this pack…Any ideas? Let me hear your thoughts!!! Thanks!!
In Your Opinion, Not Including Time Of Trip, Is The Best Backpacking Pack? Not looking for a pack for me, I’m asking in your opinion, what is the best pack, not interested in buying it, just wanna know, don’t say:
oh you are giving enough info
because I said plenty.
I’m saying this becuase some people were stupid and didn’t read the question properly.
What’s the mission? Light-and-Fast; Expedition; Beefy Weekender?
You got different styles for different jobs. There is no correct answer. There are definitely some to avoid at all costs, but there is no one single pack that conquers all.
I don’t know how to take “time of trip” out of this equation. I’m not going to take a GoLite pack out for 10 days, un-resupplied in winter. Likewise I’m not going to take a big honking Mystery Ranch pack on a 5 day Adventure Race.
If I had to go buy a new pack tomorrow and had to get something that would fit the bill for most of my trips, I’d probably go for a Gregory Baltoro or an Osprey Atmos 65.
I Need Answers! And Fast!? Give me sports beginning in all the letters of the alphabet….

View CommentClimbing and skydiving both have national and international organizations that regulate competitive events so I guess they would be considered sports.
I don’t think there is any such think as competitive backpacking unless you could adventure racing.
